Challenge
Van Velzen, a farm based in Meedhuizen, was keen to efficiently store and process their home-grown grain into feed for their own livestock. Managing their own feed production was an important step for the customer to gain more control over the quality and cost of their livestock feed.
The customer chose our product because we could offer a complete solution that met their needs. Ease of use was high on the agenda, which was essential for Van Velzen to keep the daily management of feed production running smoothly.
Solution
We developed a tailor-made solution for Van Velzen. An outdoor silo (BIN100W) was installed, equipped with a collapse auger, chain elevator, chain conveyor and grain crusher (JHP752). The operation of the solution is simple and efficient. The grain is dumped into the feed auger, after which it is conveyed to the silo via the chain elevator and chain conveyor. In the silo, the grain is stored from harvest to the next harvest. Inside the shed is a crushing station where the collapsing bin is automatically filled from the silo. On the crusher, one can set how much grain to crush, so that the feed can be fed immediately after crushing. This means the customer does not have to wait at the crusher and can properly dose the amount of crushed product during feeding.
