But which machine is most suitable: the hammer mill, disc mill or grain crusher?<\/h4>\n

Hammermills<\/h3>\n

The hammermill<\/a> is a well-known machine: a rotating rotor with hammers that smash the incoming product. The housing of the hammer mill is fitted with a screen with a perforation of your choice. The chosen perforation determines the size of the outgoing product and the capacity of the machine.<\/p>\n

The advantage of this simple but robust construction is that there is little room to generate heat during the grinding process. The replacement of the wear-parts is also very uncomplicated. Depending on the product and the chosen screen, the hammermil has a capacity of about 5 tons per hour.<\/p>\n

Hammermil<\/p><\/div>\n

Disc mill<\/h3>\n

Wherethe hammermill has been a proven concept for decades, the disc mill is fairly unkown to most people. The operation of the disc mill is similair to the millstone that were used in windmills to grind flour.<\/p>\n

The disc mill<\/a> has a fixed disc and a rotating disc. With a spindle, the grinding distance between the discs is infinitely adjustable, eliminating the need for sieves. The disc spacing is adjustable even when the machine is running therefor the grainsize of the product to be ground is very easy to change. The discs are made out of high-quality materials with a long service life: on average the discs can grind about 5000 to 10000 tons of material before they need to be replaced. The disc mills are on average 10% more efficient in power consumption than the hammermills are, the disc mill can achieve a capacity of about 6 tons\/hour. Upon request there are even disc mills available with a capacity up to 24 tons\/hour.<\/p>\n

Finally, because there are no loose parts in the disc mill, it is much more quiet than the hammermill. Useful when people are working close to the machine.<\/p>\n

Grain crusher<\/h3>\n

Whilst the hammermill and disc mill are mostly aimed at high capacities and continuous use, the graincrusher<\/a> is a great option for the livestock farmer who want to feed his own (or purchused) grain in smaller batches. A grain crusher does not grind the grain but it crushes it by passing two crushing rollers with a preset crushing distance. As a result, no product is lost in form of dust and the grain retains its optimal feed values. Because the grain is only crushed, heat generation is minimal.<\/p>\n

Did you know?<\/strong> Whaterver milling process you use, the grain will heat up about 5 to 10\u00b0C. This warming up can sometimes have unpleasant consequences for the further process.
