Description Grain crusher
For livestock farmers who want to process their own or purchased grain in smaller quantities, Jansen&Heuning’s grain crusher offers an ideal solution. Instead of milling the grain, this machine crushes the grains by passing them between two crushing rollers with a preset gap width. This process minimises product loss through dust formation and preserves the optimum nutritional value of the grain. Moreover, heat generation during crushing is minimal, which improves feed quality.
Operation of the grain crusher
The grain crusher works by feeding the grain between two or three crushing rollers, depending on the model. The distance between these rollers, the gap width, is adjustable and determines the degree of crushing. For larger seeds such as maize, peas, beans and lupins, the JHP752 is equipped with three rollers, which crushes these seeds more efficiently.
Research on crushed grain as animal feed
In order to make reliable statements on the efficiency of feeding crushed grain to dairy cows, Jansen&Heuning commissioned extensive research. Leeuwarden University of Applied Sciences discovered that feeding crushed grain is very interesting.
